Academy of France in Rome – Villa Medici

Guided tours of the garden Monday-Sunday.
Tours: 10:30am, 11:45am, 3pm, 4:15pm in Italian and French, at 11:45am.
Admission: €9, reduced €7.
The tour does not include the interior of the villa.

Palazzo Barberini

Opening hours: 8:30am – 6:30pm. Closed Mondays, December 25 and January 1. Tours also in English.
Admission: €6, reduced €3.50.
Palazzo Barberini is one of the most important and imposing palaces of the Baroque period. Construction was begun in 1625 by Carlo Maderno with the help of Borromini and finished by Bernini in 1633.

Palazzo Borghese
Largo della Fontanella Borghese, 22.
Closed to the public; can be admired only from the outside.

Palazzo Braschi
Piazza San Pantaleo, 10. Telephone: 060608.
Opening hours: 10 am – 8 pm. December 24 and 31 10am – 2pm. Closed Mondays, December 24 and 25 and January 1.
Admission: €6.50, reduced €4.50.
This magnificent noble residence today hosts the Museum of Rome. The palace was erected at the end of the 18th century by the architect Cosimo Morelli for the nephew of Pope Pius VI, Luigi Braschi Onesti.

Palazzo Chigi

Visits only upon request.
The 16th-17th century palace is the seat of the Council of Ministers.

Palazzo Della Cancelleria
Piazza della Cancelleria. Information: 060608.
Tours: Tuesday afternoon and Saturday morning, with reservation at least one week beforehand.
To visit some of the halls of the Palace, which are private, it is necessary to make a reservation per email: economato@apsa.va.
Admission: free.
Magnificent Renaissance palace in the style of Bramante.

Palazzo Farnese

Tours are suspended from November 9 to mid-April because of the exhibition “Palazzo Farnese – From the Renaissance Collections to Embassy of France”.

Palazzo Madama

Opening hours: first Saturday of the month, 10am – 6pm.
Admission: free.

The 16th-17th century palace is the seat of the Senate.

Palazzo Montecitorio

Opening hours: first Sunday of the month, 10am – 5:30pm.
Admission: free.
The 17th-century palace is the seat of the Chamber of Deputies since 1871.

Palazzo Quirinale

Opening hours: every Sunday, 8:30am – 12pm. Closed 2 and 16 January 24 April, 1 and 29 May, 18 and 25 December and from 26 June till 18 September.
Admission: €5.
The 16th-century building is the residence of the President of the Republic since 1947. Changing of the guard until the end of September at 6 pm.

Palazzo Senatorio (Capitoline Hill)

This ancient building is the official seat of the town council and the Mayor’s office.

Palazzo Spada

Opening hours: first Sunday of every month at 10:30am, 11:30am and 12:30pm.
Palazzo Spada is the Roman headquarters of the Council of State. The palace was bought from Cardinal Bernardino Spada in 1632. Spada commissioned Francesco Borromini to renovate the palace according to contemporary taste. The first floor is open for visits.

Palazzo Venezia

Opening hours: 8:30am – 7:30pm. Closed Mondays, 25 December and 1 January.
Admission: €4, reduced €2.
The palace is Rome’s first great Renaissance civil work. It was designed by Leon Battista Alberti.
